Assistant Instructor

Noel Bermudez is an Assistant Instructor whose presence embodies the heart, discipline, and family spirit of our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy. With decades of service to both his community and the martial arts, Noel brings not only technical excellence to the mats, but also genuine care for every student who walks through our doors.

For over 21 years, Noel has served as a Philadelphia firefighter in North Philadelphia, dedicating his life to protecting and supporting others in some of the city’s most challenging environments. That same sense of responsibility and selflessness defines the way he teaches and interacts with students. He understands the importance of trust, teamwork, and staying calm under pressure—values that naturally align with the culture of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the family atmosphere of our academy.

Noel’s martial arts journey is deeply rooted in tradition and respect. He earned his black belt in Goju-Ryu Karate after seven years of training under Joseph A. Artesi Sr., developing a strong foundation in discipline, structure, and striking fundamentals. This background gives him a well-rounded perspective that enhances his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction and helps students understand movement, balance, and control from multiple angles.

With over 20 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training, Noel received his black belt from Daniel Gracie in December 2016 and is currently a third-degree black belt under Daniel Gracie. His long-standing commitment to the art reflects not only technical skill, but loyalty, humility, and a deep respect for lineage—principles that define our academy’s values.

As an assistant instructor, Noel is known for his approachable teaching style and his ability to connect with students of all ages and experience levels. He takes pride in helping beginners feel welcomed and supported, while also challenging advanced students to grow and refine their skills. Noel believes that progress in Jiu-Jitsu comes from consistency, encouragement, and being part of a strong team that pushes each other forward.

Above all, Noel views the academy as an extended family. He leads by example, reminding students that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not just about techniques or belts, but about building character, confidence, and lifelong relationships. His commitment to fostering a positive, respectful, and supportive training environment makes him an integral part of our school and a trusted mentor within our community.
